At Sønderborg Sports Folk High School we offer many different opportunities for fellowship and community. It could be a folk high school stay, week courses, events, rentals, team building, folk high school visits and much more.

At IHS we focus on personal development, experiences, immersion, challenges and community. Try many different branches of sports in our homely and inspiring folk high school environment. Enjoy our beautiful surroundings and all our facilities.

Our fantastic location is close to the forest, sea, beach and Sønderborg city centre.
We have specialized subjects such as adventure, surf, beach volley, sailing, yoga, ski/snowboard and a host of sports and athletics that provide experiences for life.

Here you will make friends for life. A year group consists of about 170 young people from all over the country. Some students are international, typically from Iceland, Germany and other contiguous countries. You’ll be part of a fantastic network that’s worth its weight in gold.

Trips to Crete, Zanzibar/Tanzania, the French Alps and Iceland are offered as part of your folk high school stay.

IHS was Inaugurated in 1952 and is one among few folk high schools built for exactly that purpose: To be a folk high school. since its beginning in 1952 the school has developed from being a school with a single small sports hall to being a sports mecca with facilities and equipment for almost all kind of sports.

At Sønderborg Sports Folk High School we are simply very privileged. With only 100 metres to the sea and a lot of opportunities to use the school’s equipment for sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, etc. The school has eight beach volleyball courts, football pitches, MTB track and high roping facilities. Indoor activities include volleyball, handball, climbing, swimming, weight training and much more.

It’s possible to be enrolled at the school for either a spring or fall semester.
