Courses

At IHS, all subjects can freely be combined.  There are many opportunities for you to choose a series of related subjects so that your high school experience has its very own profile that focuses on you, your future studies and your professional choices.  We may not have the actual course that assures you a spot at your university, but all the subjects can easily be combined to build upon your resume.

Below are some of our suggested courses of study. 


Ski Course

The ski course is offered in the spring term during the 1st and 2nd period.  As a student in this course, you will spend approximately 20 days skiing at locations throughout Europe.  You will also complete the Norske Skiskoles Ski Instructor Course (Norway’s Ski School).


Team Builder Course

As a team builder, you will be taught skills in communication and teamwork.  You have the added benefit of practical experiences by coaching the groups that visit the school, thus developing your leadership skills and knowledge of how to work well with teams.  This course constitutes the second half of a full year experience at IHS and may be completed in either the spring or fall term.  Depending on the number of students interested, there may be a selection process for this course. 


Study Improvements for Physiotherapist – or Sports Education/Diploma in Body Massages

Would you like to be a physiotherapist or study athletics more in depth?  Then it would be appropriate to receive a diploma in body massage and muscle recognition during the course of your high school experience.  In addition, you can choose subjects like “sports studies” which give you an introduction to the different sports disciplines and focuses on university entrance examinations in sports studies.  Finally, you can choose the subject “sports, training and teaching” which teaches you how to organize and complete training programs at varying levels. 


Study Benefits for Den Frie Læreskole/Teacher’s College

If you stay at IHS for a full year and complete a trainer/instructor course or are a student with the team builder program you will receive valuable experiences in teaching/coaching children, young adults and adults.  At the end of your high school experience, if you apply to Den Frie Læreskole, you may receive credit for a half to a full year of the five year study.
